Dan P. Carr paints Borlotti Beans, part 1

Me painting a beautiful and delicious variety of French (Italian?) beans, between August and September 2009.

Here I sketch the composition and begin to set down the colors, "dead-color" being an approximation on top of which will go the more exact coloring work later. Fairly boring even with all the off-camera color mixing edited out, but it hopefully shows the sort of trial and error at the start of what is never a scientific process for me. This first painting session totaled around 45 minutes. Oil on linen panel, 8x10 in.
